The goal of Project Hidden Refuge is to create a safe, self-sustaining community to weather the storm of the Trump dictatorship. Hopefully, the Trump threat will pass in a year or two, but we are planning for the long term. We're going to build a hidden community in a sparsely populated area. Hidden Refuge will have enough food stored to give massive farms time to begin producing. The farms will be built with heritage seeds so that one year's crop can provide seeds for the next year. Livestock will provide meat and dairy. It will also feature facilities to take food from the fields to the community. The community will be made of people contributing in different ways. Some will have provided financial support to get the community started. Some will use their talents to sustain the community. Others will be specialists, like doctors and engineers. There will be a pool complex, bar & grill, and parks to make life more than survival. The electricity for the community will come from a mix of solar, wind, and hydro power. The water will be from wells on premises. There will be a security force to help keep us safe. We'll have multiple high speed satellite internet connections so that we can still know about the world around us. The community will have a source of ongoing income from cryptocurrency mining to pay taxes and other ongoing costs. The income will also provide the funding for a plan to relocate community members and help us start over well if the Trump threat doesn't pass. No member of the community will have to pay for food, housing, medicine, or any of the other expenses of life. We will strive to cut contact with the outside world as much as possible to allow us to avoid detection and maintain our safety. Secrecy will be employed from Day 1. It will be our first line of defense.
Getting Ready Fast
Election day is 3 months away and the Electoral College meets on January 6, 2025 six months from now. Inauguration is just two weeks later. In short, there is very little time to do something this massive. Who could have foreseen the nexus of the breakdown of democracy, the courts, and common sense in the electorate? Our plan is to bring in temporary housing in the form of mobile homes (real homes, not campers) as well as construction materials and equipment. Initially, we will live in the mobile homes. Many of the members of the community will be construction specialists who can build our permanent homes and the infrastructure for the community. Our highest priority is to get all of us behind the walls of Hidden Refuge before inauguration day.
Freedom and Equality
While freedom will be in short supply in Trump's America, freedom and equality will be the fundamental values of Hidden Refuge. Consistent with the U.S. Constitution, the community will value the rights and humanity of those who live there. Certainly it will be different from the U.S. system. For one, it won't be free market capitalism. Once we are all behind the walls, we'll have no need for money until and unless we start over in another country. Liberty, though, will be at the heart of our community.
Self-Sustaining Community
Hidden Refuge will be a fully self-contained ecosystem. Massive farms will provide food for the community. Wells will provide water. Renewable energy that requires no link to the outside world will provide our power. A computer network will provide both information and entertainment. Cryptocurrency powered by renewable power will provide a self-sustaining income source that isn't a government regulated currency and can be held anonymously. Members of the community will be chosen for their politics, as democrats will be a target in the Trump regime of both the government and ordinary citizens. Community members will also be chosen for their skills. Farmers, construction workers, electricians, medical specialists, security experts and so on. Members of the community will contribute in different ways. No one will be asked to pay for their food or medicine. Non-consumable alternatives to consumable resources will be sought out and we will consult experts to find more. One example is TMS. Many struggle with depression. Yet, trying to stockpile 10 years of the various forms of antidepressants isn't feasible. TMS is a cutting edge medical treatment that is more effective but doesn't require ongoing resources other than electricity, which will be essentially unlimited in Hidden Refuge thanks to the use of renewable energy. Of course, consumable resources are the only alternative for some resources. Those will be stockpiled as well as purchased later by the income generated by the cryptocurrency mining. Additional sources of income may be developed as we consult with experts to refine the plan.
Security
Security is paramount. Secrecy will be our first line of defense, you'll probably hear that more than once. The land for Hidden Refuge will be a gigantic tract of land in a sparsely populated area. The developed part of the community will be inside the tract of land so that a margin of undeveloped land will conceal the developed portion. The community will be built under a cover story so that neighbors and local government won't know what it is. Surrounding the developed portion of the community will be a security wall. There will also be an armed security force made up of community residents. A self-sustaining community will be an element of security. By not buying food from the outside, we avoid detection. By not using utilities provided by local providers, we avoid detection. By having our own medical experts and not needing to go to doctors, we avoid detection. Our ongoing income stream will allow us to pay taxes and other costs to keep us from raising any red flags.
More Than Just Surviving
Living in a hidden community for the long term means we have to think about more than just food and medicine. People are human beings and need to enjoy life. There will be a pool complex. We will have parks. There will be a bar and grill which will in effect be multiple restaurants serving different types of food and the bar will serve as a community center with social activities. The computer network will be used to provide entertainment and news. A library will provide access to books at a time and in a country where book banning will be more common that publicly funded libraries. Homes will be fully furnished for comfort including electronics. Community members won't have time to move all of their belongings, not to mention the security risk posed by movers knowing the location of our home.
Ongoing Income
Services like broadband internet will require subscriptions with an ongoing cost. Property taxes will have to be paid to avoid conflict and detection. Therefor, we will need ongoing income. Mining cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, is a way to essentially convert electricity into currency. Using renewable energy makes this an excellent source of income for our community. The currency itself is held anonymously, controlled by no government, spent anonymously, and convertible into essentially every global currency. We can make an investment initially and then reap the benefits over the long-term. It is our belief that as the world falls more under the control of repressive regimes such as the Trump, Putin, and Xi regimes, a currency that is independent of government control becomes more appealing.
A Big, but Realistic Plan
This may sound like a dream. It isn't. We have the core plan. The first funds raised will be used to reach out to more supporters and to experts to begin turning the idea into a step by step plan from procurement to implementation. Later supporters will be sought to provide larger contributions. Every supporter, every specialist, every community member will live in Hidden Refuge. They will know that they are trading their contributions for safety and freedom that will endure even after America has fallen under the shroud of tyranny. It is ambitious, but this time in history calls for ambition to survive. It calls for a bold vision and courageous supporters who are motivated by a desire to build something like the home we're losing and safety for themselves, their neighbors, and their family.
The Long Term
Members of our community will be a diverse set of individuals with different skills and experience. Once together, we can evaluate the conditions that exist in America and work on a plan to start over in another country not as refugees but as immigrants poised for success. Hopefully, the system will correct itself and we can rejoin the country of our birth. If not, we will search for a way to make the best of it. Until we find that way, we will have a safe and comfortable place to live without fear of the tyranny of Donald J. Trump.
